22ND ANNUAL TOBOGGAN...

22ND ANNUAL TOBOGGAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Camden, Maine. One day, one contest. College of the Atlantic was present in this yearly competition with three teams of students determined to have fun.

We took our bags on a grey but promising Saturday morning and drove to Camden where the challenging toboggan course was waiting. Even though several hours went by before we could actually slide with our toboggans, the Championship was not only about being the fastest on the sledge, but also about reviving the sleepy energies of Winter. There was music and food, dance and friends, fires and costumes. When we finally got to the moment of the slide, where there is no turning back, all the waiting paid off. Let this video illustrate how much fun we had.

About mescalante

This is my first year at COA. The past Winter was the first Winter of my life, and so, getting to know, play and eat snow was madness. My home is Colombia where my parents and my brother are right now, but I have not been there in a while. I went to United World College Costa Rica for two years, and there i met wonderful people that are now part of my life. Also, there I re-discovered how much I enjoy writing. And reading. Then I came to COA in the United States, far away from home but right by the ocean. Living by the ocean is so wonderful.
